JVC HR-VP710U in Dick's Gadget Warehouse
Dick got this video cassette recorder in about 1999. The JVC HR-VP710U was a feature-laden top-of-the-line VCR: VCR Plus (Episode 560) with Cable Eye, a jog shuttle for moving frames forward and backward, flying erase head for editing, auto tape calibration and even a Family Message Centre. It cost about $700 at the time. It’s not even in JVC’s “Archived Items“, although you can still find similar models, the 770U (with features very similar to the 710U, minus the Family Message Centre), the 780U and the 790U.
