Google Nexus One
Leo ordered the Google Nexus One as soon as it was announced, and it arrived just after he left for CES. The Nexus One is similar in size to the iPhone, slightly thinner, with a 3.7-inch OLED screen (800 x 480 pixels), 100,000:1 contrast radio; 5MP camera with built-in LED flash; Qualcomm QSD 8250 1 GHz CPU; WiFi, AGPS, A2DP, Bluetooth; GSM, supports T-Mobile’s 3G network (but not AT&T’s, only EDGE). Uses Android 2.1. A Verizon-supported version will come out later this year.
Leo loves the phone. The only thing missing for him is support for Audible. Also, no multi-touch support yet, although that may come later. Watch Leo review the phone. Video courtesy of Team ODTV at odtv.me.

Gadget Aviary
Verena Fuchs was much amused by the Penguin Tea Timer (Episode 942), and has a few suggestions of her own, including the Penguin Air Purifier and the Penguin Humidifier.
A Comedy Show? That’s a Revelation
Leo comes uncharacteristically well-prepared today, and even has a letter to spare. Listener Al Spalding (who last wrote in Episode 782) was for a long time slightly irritated because Dick and Leo didn’t spend enough time talking about the gadgets, until the penny dropped when he heard that the Daily Giz Wiz won the Best Comedy Podcast Award. It’s supposed to be ha-ha funny!
No “I’ll Be Here”
A listener was disappointed that at the end of Episode 1000, Dick didn’t say “I’ll be here.” Given the quality of that particular show (which is saying something), one shouldn’t be surprised that Dick didn’t want to be back.
